I am Carly. I’m married to Kyle, the Greatest Person in the World, and we live in Salt Lake City, Utah, with my parents. That's right. Because that's how awesome we are.

In addition to being Mrs. Greatest Person in the World and that-girl-who-still-lives-with-her-parents, I’m also a lawyer, photographer, entrepreneur, Disneyphile, dieter, author, bargain-hunter, mediator, designer, and super blogger. I do some of these things much better than I do others and I do some of these things without any talent for them at all. Kyle would tell you that I’m also a cook, seamstress, laundress, future baby carrier, fire starter, and general stone around his neck, but that’s why he doesn’t get to blog.

Despite graduating with my J.D. and passing the Ohio bar, I do not practice law. I work for a non-profit organization that seeks to improve the life of citizens and schoolchildren and therefore I make far less money than the average American human. The joy of not selling out is lukewarm at best in the face of two hundred thousand dollars in student loans, but the universe compensated me by sending me a cute guy with a full head of hair and a talent for making guinea pig obstacle courses. In the end, my life is pretty awesome.

In other web lives I have been vnllacpcake, anais131, LaneyLn, shakespeares-grl, zachsgirl, miss flip flop, anais-aphrodite, SLCpunkette, and, most recently, thatdisneygirl. It took more than ten years of online identities to realize that I should probably just be Carly for a while. So here I am. Being Carly.

A Short Interview with a Tall Person

Why do you blog?

I blog because I have an intense compulsion to document things. I’m addicted to writing and photographs. When I don’t blog I fill up journals, make sketches, and write long lists on the back of grocery receipts. Blogging is a lot easier.

When did you start blogging?

Tricky question. I’ve been journaling as long as I’ve been writing…which would make it about 22 years now. The online writing started when I was 16 or 17, but I’m not exactly sure. In addition to my compulsion to document things, I have a compulsion to destroy evidence. For this reason, many of my blogs and writings are no longer in existence.

Why should I read this blog?

I have no idea. I don’t even know how you got this far. If you’re still reading, maybe you should tell me why you’re still reading and then I’ll pass that along to other people who ask me.

Who does your website?

I do, with a lot of help from the nameless faces at Blogger.com.
